Ladies’ haircuts in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
What “a haircut” means depends entirely on you. Some clients want the same shape every time, maintained well. Others want a meaningful change. Some are growing it out and need the right kind of trim to make that work. Some want a complete restyle they’ve been planning for months. We don’t try to flatten this into one service — every haircut at Wisteria starts with a proper conversation about what you actually want.
The cut you book is usually less important than who you book with. Our stylists have different strengths. Anya is our colour and curly-hair specialist — particularly strong on the technical side of colour and on detailed consultation. Tim, our master stylist, is often the first pick for longer restyles. Tracey is known for putting nervous clients at ease and getting first-visit restyles right. Shanika is our graduate stylist — energy, attentive listening, and the most accessible price point on the team. The booking system shows availability across all four; pick whoever suits, or message us if you’d like a recommendation.

The services we offer.
Five most-booked ladies’ services, each with a different time slot and consultation depth:
Wash & cut. Straightforward maintenance — a consultation, wash, and cut. No blow-dry. Best if you regularly cut your hair and don’t need it styled before leaving.
Wash, cut & blow dry. The standard ladies’ service. Adds a blow-dry style finish at the end. Good for first visits or if you’ve got something on after.
Restyle. A significant change of length, shape, or style — usually booked when you haven’t had your hair cut in six months or more, or when you want something materially different. Longer appointment, more consultation time, and we’ll show you how to style it at home. More on what counts as a restyle.
Long haircut. Specifically for hair past the shoulders. Charged differently because it takes longer and uses more product. Booking the right service means we allocate the right time slot — see our long haircut page for detail.
Curly haircut. A dedicated service for curly, coily, or wavy hair, using dry-cutting techniques where appropriate. We cut at least one curly head most days and four or more on a busy one. More on the curly haircut page.
For shorter and mid-length looks, our short haircut and medium haircut pages cover the cuts we’re asked for most. For something more directional, the creative haircut page has examples.
Hair types we work with.
Our stylists have trained across the UK and internationally, which matters because Oxfordshire salons don’t always cater to the full range of hair types. We cut Caucasian, Asian, coarse, dry, curly, and straight hair most days. If you’ve previously struggled to find a salon that can work with your hair texture, this is worth flagging at consultation — it usually changes the conversation.
What to expect from your appointment.
A standard wash, cut and blow dry takes about 60 to 90 minutes; a restyle, 90 minutes to two hours. The consultation always comes first — we’d rather spend ten minutes talking than start cutting before we’re aligned on what you want. If you’ve brought reference photos, this is when we look at them together; if you haven’t, the conversation works just as well.
What you can expect from every appointment, regardless of stylist:
Careful listening. We want to understand what you actually want, not what we assume you want.
Honest advice. Without jargon. If something won’t suit you or won’t behave at home, we’ll say so before we start cutting.
A friendly, unhurried pace. You shouldn’t feel rushed or like you’re being processed.
Home-care guidance. You’ll leave knowing how to maintain the cut between appointments, with product recommendations if relevant — we stock JOICO in salon for clients who want to take something home.
There’s a fuller piece on what to expect from a hair consultation, and one on our four-point haircut guarantee, if you want the detail.
Choosing a cut for your face shape.
Face shape is one of the things your stylist will consider during consultation, alongside hair type, lifestyle, and what you want to achieve. A quick guide:
Oval. Most cuts will suit — the widest range of options.
Round. Cuts that add length or angles help create more definition.
Square. Softer, layered cuts work better than blunt lines that mirror the jaw.
Heart. Volume around the lower face balances the proportions.
Diamond. Cuts that add width at the forehead and chin soften the angles.
This is a starting point, not a rulebook — plenty of cuts work across multiple shapes when adapted properly. Your stylist will tailor the recommendation to you specifically.
Silent haircuts.
If you’d rather not chat during your appointment, we offer a “Silent Haircut” upstairs in a separate room — same standard of cut, no small talk required. Useful if you’re neurodivergent, have anxiety, or simply want quiet. More on silent hair appointments.
Pricing and stylist level.
Pricing varies by hair length, service, and stylist level. We have stylists at different points in their careers — graduate stylists at lower prices, senior and master stylists at higher rates. The work is good across the team; the price difference reflects experience, not quality of cut. Many clients deliberately book with a graduate or senior stylist because they like the work and prefer the price.
For current rates, see our price list. Online booking shows the price as soon as you select a stylist.
