Wisteria Avenue is housed in a Grade II Listed building on East St. Helen Street — one of the most characterful streets in Abingdon, a few minutes from the Thames and 60 minutes from central London. The building has the period features, natural light and texture that make it a genuinely distinctive location, while operating day-to-day as a fully-equipped working salon.

The space is available for hire on two bases: occasional / one-off bookings for productions and photo shoots, and regular recurring hire for freelance practitioners — beauty therapists, brow technicians, massage therapists, lash technicians, and other professionals who want a credible, well-equipped base without committing to a full lease.

For Film, TV & Photography

A location that doesn't need dressing.

The space works as a working-salon set out of the box. No additional production design required to make it look authentic — it is one. Period architecture inside and out, contemporary salon equipment, good natural light, and a layout that's been used to camera before.

Hire is most commonly outside our trading hours (Sunday and Monday all day; weekday evenings and mornings by arrangement), so production schedules don't conflict with normal salon operations. We can also accommodate full takeovers during working days when notice allows.

  • Period architecture. Grade II Listed building with original features visible throughout.
  • Working salon equipment. Nine full stations, two basins, mirrors, dryers, trolleys — all on-site, all functional.
  • Natural light. Large windows on both floors. South-facing on the main floor.
  • Vehicle access. Loading directly outside the front door (subject to council parking rules). Wider street access nearby.
  • Crew amenities. Hot drinks, refreshments, Wi-Fi, and a separate upstairs space for dressing or break-out use.
  • Discretion. The first floor can be closed off entirely from public view for sensitive work.

For Freelance Practitioners

A professional base, without the lease.

The upstairs space is available on a regular recurring basis to qualified practitioners — beauty therapists, massage therapists, brow technicians, lash technicians, podiatrists, holistic practitioners and similar. You bring your products and clients; we provide the space, the chair, the basin, the kettle and the location.

Most regular hire arrangements work on a fixed day or days each week. A massage therapist taking over the upstairs every Sunday, a brow technician using the room every other Monday afternoon, a freelance hairdresser building a client base in their own time — all examples of arrangements we've considered.

  • Private upstairs space. Separate floor with its own chair, basin, mirror and natural light. Discreet, with no overlap with main-salon clients.
  • Flexible recurring hire. By the day, weekly, or fortnightly. Standing slots negotiated case by case.
  • What's included. Wi-Fi, hot drinks for you and clients, use of basin, mirrors, basic salon furniture.
  • What you bring. Your products, your insurance, your client booking system, your towels (or arrange separately with us).
  • The address as credibility. Operating from a recognised central-Abingdon salon helps newer practitioners build trust faster than a home or pop-up arrangement.
  • Reasonable terms. We don't tie you in long. Most regular hire arrangements run on a rolling monthly basis.
