The blow dry — more than a finish, in our Abingdon salon.
A blow dry is one of those things that sounds simple and isn’t. Done properly it’s the difference between hair that looks fine and hair that looks like you — bouncy, glossy, sitting exactly where it should and lasting far longer than anything you’d manage fighting your own arms in the bathroom mirror. For some clients it’s a weekly pick-me-up; for others it’s how they see what their hair can actually do. Either way, it’s one of the most satisfying appointments we do — and there’s more to it than just drying hair.

Leave knowing how to do it yourself.
Here’s the part that makes our blow dries different: we show you how to recreate it at home. Most people have never been taught how to actually use their own hair dryer — and it makes an enormous difference. So while we work, we’ll talk you through it. What the cold-shot button is really for (setting the style so it holds). How a round barrel brush builds volume and movement that a flat brush can’t. What a volumising spray actually does, and where to put it. For curly hair, what a curl cream does when you pair it with a gel, and how a diffuser changes everything. The right heat and speed settings for your hair, rather than blasting it on full and hoping.
None of this is secret, but almost nobody gets shown it — and once you know it, every wash day at home gets better. It’s why a lot of our clients say they learn something new each visit. That’s added value you keep long after you’ve left the chair.
Whatever your hair does — we’ll work with it.
A blow dry isn’t one thing. We’ll shape it around your hair and what you want from it: smooth and straight, soft waves, big bouncy volume, a flick through the ends, or curls brought to life with a diffuser. Curly and wavy hair is welcome — we won’t try to beat it into submission unless straight is genuinely what you want, in which case we know how to get there cleanly and without the frizz. If you’ve got a particular cut, like a butterfly cut, we’ll show you how to style it so it actually looks like it did the day you had it cut.
It’s also the best way to see what a new cut or colour really looks like. There’s a reason we finish colour appointments with a proper blow dry — it’s when your balayage or highlights finally read the way they’re meant to, and when a fresh cut shows you its full shape. Plenty of clients book a blow dry on its own simply to be reminded what their hair can do.
A weekly pick-me-up, or a special occasion.
Some of our clients come in regularly — weekly or fortnightly — for a standing blow dry, and we completely understand why. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of walking out with hair that looks and moves beautifully, knowing you didn’t have to do a thing. It’s a small, reliable lift in the week, and it keeps you looking polished without the daily effort.
And of course a blow dry is a wonderful option for the moments that matter — a wedding (whether you’re the bride, a guest, or mother of the bride), a party, a special dinner, or simply a day you want to feel your best for. Tell us the occasion when you book and we’ll make sure the style suits it and lasts the distance.
How to make it last.
A good blow dry should see you through several days, and a few small things make all the difference — the right products for your hair type, that cold-shot to set it, and knowing how to protect it overnight. We’ll cover the specifics with you while we style, tailored to your hair rather than generic advice, so you get the most out of it between visits. It’s the same philosophy as everything we do: send you home knowing how, not just looking good for the afternoon.
Booking your blow dry.
