Men's Hair System Appointments FAQ's
What are men's hair replacement systems?
Men’s hair replacement systems are a non-surgical solution to achieve full coverage, same-day by working with your existing hair and seamlessly blending a natural system. These hair systems are attached to the scalp using advanced adhesives, ensuring a secure fit that allows for you to feel comfortable 24/7 without the need to remove/reapply daily; the systems are only ever removed and reapplied in-salon. If you’re unsure as to the differences between men’s hair systems and hair transplants, this blog might help.
Hair systems come in two forms; your desired colour (one colour) or a custom-made fit. Customer made systems are more tailored to embrace a specific curl pattern, grey blending, or achieving a highlighted effect. in most instances, systems with a view to colour matching can be delivered more efficiently.

How long does it take to apply a men's hair system for the first time?
The first-time application of a men’s hair system consists of two stages; the pre-appointment consultation and the appointment for fitting and cutting. The consultation works through what you hope to achieve, how a hair system could help, our recommendations, answers to any questions, colour matching and exploring appointment availability. The initial consultation takes on average 15 minutes with the first application appointment generally taking about two hours in the salon. This appointment includes a scalp and hair cleanse, fitting and haircut to your desired style.
How long do follow up appointments normally take?
Follow-up maintenance appointments are essential for keeping your hair system looking its best and maintaining the health of your scalp. These should take place on average every 2-6 weeks (most clients leave it 4-6 weeks). On average, these appointments take just over one hour.
During these appointments, your hair system is removed, your scalped and system cleansed, any smaller areas of scalp growth are trimmed and your haircut on your sides cut back in. The cleansed system is then reapplied and the necessity for this removal and reapplication is to ensure the longevity of your system (they break down over time if not cared for) and your scalp looking after to avoid any irritation. If you’re wondering how a men’s system stays on, this can help.
Are there any scenarios where it can take longer?
You will typically find that your first appointment will take longer as you understand the process, develop your understanding of how the system works, we work through aftercare with you are break down the process in real-time.
Another scenario which may contribute to your time in the salon is the experience of Stylist working with you and the preference of Stylist. Some Stylists will just take longer yet will deliver the same, if not better result. In other cases if you’re working with a Junior Stylist, the appointment may take additional time given their limited scope of experience as they themselves work to ensure the highest standard.
The most common occurance of ana appointment taking longer is when maintenance appointments are stretched further apart. For example if you leave appointments 8 weeks apart, the adhesives prove much more challenging to remove, the system can become weaker and a more gradual process will become necessary. This can greatly influence the time implication and this can also add to the cost.

Will it take my longer to do my hair at home?
Surprisingly, caring for your hair system at home often takes less time than managing natural hair! Your Stylist will provide you with an aftercare plan upon completion of your first appointment and this will include washing your hair, less! Whilst conditioning your hair is encouraged to maintain softness, shampooing is strictly limited to once every two weeks as a maximum as over exposure to washing your hair system to deteriorate and therefore reduce the lifespan of your system.
It’s too worth noting that you can still take advantage of hair styling products and these can work particularly well and ensuring that these are lighter and used sparingly.
Conclusion
Men’s hair replacement systems are highly effective for addressing hair loss in men. The turnaround time is highly efficient with minimal time commitments when compared to surgical alternatives. A combination of an advance consultation and appointment span under two and a half hours in total with the likelihood of extended appointments not taking much longer either.
