Airtouch highlights are an advanced highlighting technique geared towards achieving a healthier blend of colours. The Airtouch technique when matched with babylights (and can be applied to any technique, including balayage) involves using a hairdryer to gently push shorter and finer hairs out of a section before applying lightener or colour to the remaining strands. In practice, when applying colour or bleach to a section of hair your Stylist will section your hair, apply their desired colour or bleach within a foil. Airtouch utilises forcible heat before the application of any colour or bleach is applied between foils. 

The advantage of Airtouch is that when highlighting the ‘fly-away’ hairs are left out which leaves only the hair that your Stylist wants to highlight remaining. The end result is a largely undetectable set of highlights which grow out much more seamlessly making them a much more low-maintenance hair colour.

Yes. The increased cost is primarily due to the increased time necessary and to a lesser extent the requisite skill set. On average you will find a typical Airtouch appointment will contribute anything from 30 minutes – one hour, plus onto the same highlighting appointment. The additional time takes the form of intricate sectioning and blow-drying each section before colour application and for this reason it can contribute more time onto the appointment.

You will generally find that most salons will not have a fixed cost for this reason given they can vary from one client to the next. That being said, in-salon consultations are highly favourable and can better outline the increase in time and therefore, cost.
