How much do men's hair systems cost in Oxfordshire?
If you have ever considered a men’s hair replacement system then you have probably found that trying to find out how a men’s hair system can cost is difficult and can on the face of it seem complicated. Understandably, if you are looking for a men’s hair system then you want to ensure that you can find a price and service that works for you whilst ensuring you are receiving the best system possible without sacrificing on quality.Β
If you are unfamiliar, hair systems are a type of application that regularly competes for surgical alternatives (clients typically opt for one of the other) with both increasing in popularity over the last five years. The hair systems aren’t always the same price for every client in the same way as hair transplants might be. With a variety of customisation options and ongoing maintenance involved, costs can vary. In our latest blog our Stylists breakdown everything that you need to know from how much the hair systems cost your salon, how much they will charge you, what the cost of your hair system appointment is and what the cost of maintenance looks like.
For more information about men’s hair systems, check out our men’s hair systems service page.Β Finally, if you’re new to the salon and not sure how to get the most value from your next appointment, need a consultation or would value a conversation before booking, call or send a WhatsApp message on 01235 534705.
Men's Hair System Costs FAQ's
What does the hair system itself cost?
The hair system is always outsourced. Salons order these usually by colour matching your existing hair to a swatch that ensures that your new hair is a match. Salon’s likely won’t stock these either so you can ensure that your order is unique. However where it might get slightly confusing with costs is whether your chosen salon is ordering you a ‘standard’ hair system, one that is custom made and whether they are charing you for the hair system or whether they are applying a margin on the hair system before the cost of the application. Below we have outlined the differences and what a salon may charge for both:
- Standard Hair System’s: Generally, this is something most clients will take advantage of simply because it represents the best option. With hair systems, it’s always better to go with ‘what works’ rather than trying to save or reduce the costs. The hair system is the single most important aspect and clients can expect a cost with us of around Β£150 – Β£200. This will be the same across the country with the only additional variable whether a salon is applying a margin. If you are being told that a hair system isn’t custom made and it costs more, then your hair system salon is most likely applying a margin to your hair system. For this reason it might be worthwhile exploring options first before you make that commitment.
- Custom Hair System’s:Β Some clients may have unique characteristics such as unique colour blending, highlights, a double crown or parting. The price for these generally comes in at Β£250 given the need for a bespoke design and manufacture. These can take up to three months to arrive too. Most salons will likely apply a margin to this so again, it’s worth ensuring that if you are being charged much in excess of Β£250, consider your options first.
What is the total cost of a men's hair system appointment?
The cost of the hair system is one of three main costs. The first appointment will include fitting your system, cutting and working through the ongoing maintenance to ensure you maximise your investment. In our experience the primary cost of fitting and ongoing maintenance is dictated by location. If you’re unsure if a hair system is right for you and you are considering a hair system or a hair transplant, this could help.
In Oxfordshire, you can expect prices for this initial service to fall between Β£350 and Β£550, with more competitive pricing compared to larger cities like London, where fitting costs are generally closer to Β£750. Hereβs what goes into these costs:
- Hair System: As detailed above, Β£150-Β£250 should be consistent as the service is directly outsourced so location isn’t generally a factor. That being said, consider how much you are being charged for this.
- Fitting:Β The fitting at the first appointment is a three hour service. The fitting involves applying and adjusting the hair system so that it looks natural and feels secure. This also includes a haircut, ensuring that the blending with the hair system works to match your natural hairline and styling preferences. The overall cost in the south of England (Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Buckingshire, Hampshire, Midlands etc) is Β£350-Β£550 including everything. Some prices may vary beyond these figures, however for 95% of clients, this is what you should expect to pay for the appointment from start to finish including your hair system. The most expensive we have seen is Β£750+ in London. Outside of London, Β£350 is the cheapest.
How much does it cost to maintain a men's hair system?
There’s two considerations here; what you do at home and what you do in-salon. At home is largely straightforward and doesn’t require much time (if any). However routine salon visits are important to ensure that your hair system is maximised and looks great for the longest possible duration. Maintenance involves removing the system, cleaning your scalp, trimming the new hair growth underneath, and reattaching the system. If the above doesn’t happen, the system starts to breakdown quite quickly and can look tired. For more information on men’s hair systems, check out our blog.
- Routine Upkeep: A typical maintenance session lasts around one hours and costs about Β£75 in Oxfordshire. In London, however, you might see costs ranging from Β£150 to Β£200.
- Maintenance Frequency: For optimal results, itβs recommended to schedule maintenance every 3-4 weeks. This helps preserve the quality of the system and keeps your scalp healthy.
Is there anything I can do at home?
Yes, and it primarily involves product usage and not being too aggressive with your hair system. Here’s more information about whether you need to remove the hair system away from the salon. Here are some examples to make the most of your hair system:
- Product usage: Avoid anything too harsh. Conditioners only when showering with infrequent use of shampoo (the latter once every couple of weeks at most). The condition keeps it soft, however shampoo can obviously still be used on your own hair.
- Care:Β Avoid aggressive brushing, pulling and tugging. This will break down the hair system much more quickly.
Conclusion
Hair systems are a competitively priced alternative to surgery and medication. Location will play a big role, however salons outside of London can offer you identical experience, know-how and service levels without the same costs. The ballpark for most clients for their first appointment is Β£350-Β£550 and this ought to represent a good starting point however if you want your investment to stand the test of time, ensuring that you’re getting the most from your hair system with monthly appointments to care for your initial outlay. This is vitally important.
