Babylights in Abingdon

When clients ask for highlights, you will never be short of options. Whether it’s different colours, more lighter pieces, back-to-back foils, lowlights, thicker foils, finer foils… There is something to suit everyone. If you’re looking for subtle highlights, babylights might be the perfect choice that offer a much softer and more natural blend.

In our latest blog, we’ll explore what babylights are, the benefits of getting them, how long they last, and whether they’re the right choice for you. If you want to learn more about highlights and what they can do for you, we have a highlights service page.

Finally, if you’re new to the salon and not sure how to get the most value from your next appointment, need a consultation or would value a conversation before booking, call or send a WhatsApp message on 01235 534705.

Babylights FAQ's

What are babylights?

Babylights are delicate and much finer highlights than you normally associate with highlights and these are designed to mimic the natural, sun-kissed hair. As the name suggests, the technique aims to replicate subtle lightness by applying small and more delicate highlights that are offer a softer look but when combined can be anything from striking to sophisticated, stand out, or even soft. Babylights are applied using a very fine, precision technique to create a soft, blended result that looks natural and seamless.

Unlike traditional highlights, which can be chunkier and less natural in their appearance, babylights focus on smaller sections of hair for a more diffused and subtle effect. The technique works particularly well for those who want a low-maintenance, natural-looking colour. Babylights don’t necessarily need to be one colour, neither do highlights or babylihghts they need to be with bleach.

What will babylights look like?

Babylights can look like a number of things dependent upon your colour choices and foil placement. Sme desire a more significant change packing more lighter pieces as a result, others prefer to see more of their natural colour, instead opting for soft babylights to break up a block/flat colour. Babylights can add depth and texture in the softest way without the harsher regrowth of more traditional highlights. It’s worth noting that babylights don’t always necessarily need to be applied in highlighted form (exclusively from the root area). Babylights can also be applied in balayage form for a softer balayage appearance! The result once babylights are applied whether in the form of balayage of highlights is a natural highlighted look, as if you’ve just returned from a warm holiday with sun-kissed hair. To avoid confusing balayage and highlights, this can help.

Depending on your base colour, babylights can be tailored to suit your individual style. For example, blondes might opt for pale, creamy babylights, while brunettes might go for warm, caramel tones with the end goal to keep the highlights delicate and well-blended.

What the benefit of babylights?

Babylights offer several benefits, making them arguably more popular more traditional highlighting techniques. Here’s are some resaons why they might be worth considering:

  • Softer appearance: Babylights offer a softer more blended hair colour than more traditional highlights. The biggest benefit is their elegant appearance above a more drastic set of highlights.

  • Low Maintenance: Babylights *can* offer a low maintenance hair colour if the colour choice and foil placement serves your regrowth well. Since babylights are so fine and blended by design, they can grow out more naturally than traditional highlights. This means less obvious regrowth, fewer trips to the salon, and a more effortless style in between appointments.

  • Fine hair: If you have fine hair, babylights can present the illusion of improved volume by offering definition to otherwise flat hair. Babylights create the illusion of fuller, more voluminous hair, enhancing your overall look without adding weight.

How long will babylights last?

It depends on your colour choice and volume of foils. Some clients can stretch their appointments for months without much, if any incentive to touch up the regrowth. The longevity of babylights depends on several factors, however, in general babylights can last anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks before you’ll need a follow up appointment.

Babylights are finer pieces than more traditional highlights so they can grow out more gradually and naturally, meaning you are less likely to have such an obvious and stark contrast of regrowth as you would with traditional highlights.

Conclusion

Babylights are a beautiful and yet subtle way to enhance your hair’s natural colour representing an obvious choice if you’re considering highlights for your next appointment. If you’re looking for your first highlights or looking to soften your next full head, babylights can offer the perfect solution for those who want a low-maintenance, natural-looking style.
