The role

A step up from the standard Senior Stylist role. Alongside the styling work, you’d take on some salon management responsibility — running the floor on quieter days, coordinating with the junior team, helping us think through how the salon operates.

The styling side is the same: cutting and colouring across the full range, working with a consistent client list, no clients-from-scratch problem.

The management side is hands-on, not corporate. We’re a small independent salon — there’s no “Regional Operations Manager” hierarchy here. You’d work closely with the salon owner on decisions about scheduling, team development, and how things should run.

Who we’re looking for

  • Senior-level technical skill. All the cutting and colour competence of a standard senior, plus the confidence to lead from the front.
  • Leadership in practice, not in title. If you’ve assistant-managed somewhere bigger and got tired of admin without authority, this is the opposite: real influence on how the salon operates, small enough team that you can see the impact.
  • Good with junior team members. Patience, mentoring instinct, ability to give feedback that helps people improve rather than crushes them.
  • Reliable and steady. The role only works if you can be the dependable presence on the floor. Not a fit for someone who treats management as a stepping stone.

What you’ll get

  • £18+ per hour. Depending on experience and the scope of management responsibility you take on.
  • Real influence over how the salon runs. No bureaucracy, no quarterly reviews you have to write. Decisions are made on the floor.
  • Sundays and Mondays off. The salon is closed both days. Across the board.
  • A full column from day one. The senior stylist side of the role is fully booked.
  • Joico throughout the salon. Professional products you can use, recommend, and sell.
  • Direct relationship with the salon owner. No corporate management chain — you’d report directly to the owner.
