Full-Time/Part-Time Junior Hair Stylist
The role
Newly or recently qualified and ready to actually develop on the salon floor. This is the role for someone who’s done the qualification, has some confidence, and now wants the next 12–18 months in a busy environment with senior stylists they can genuinely learn from.
You’d start with a smaller column of your own clients, supported with floor work alongside the senior team. As you build confidence and demonstrate skill, your own column grows. There’s no artificial promotion gate — pace of progression is driven by you and the work.
The volume of clients matters here. You’d be cutting and colouring constantly. The fastest way to get good is to do a lot, with people watching who can show you how to do it better.
Who we’re looking for
- Qualified or close to qualified. Level 2 or working toward Level 3 NVQ in Hairdressing — or equivalent. You’ve done the foundation; we’ll handle the rest.
- Hungry to develop. Not looking for somewhere to coast. The clients are real, the feedback is real, and getting good takes work.
- Good with people. Salon-floor confidence with clients matters as much as technical skill — sometimes more.
- Open to being taught. If you can take direction without taking it personally, you’ll thrive here. If you can’t, you won’t.
What you’ll get
- Up to £12 per hour. Depending on experience and current skill level.
- Real mentoring, not corporate-speak. Senior stylists who’ll actively help you improve — show you, explain why, correct your work where needed. The mentoring here is hands-on.
- Constant volume. You’ll be cutting and colouring every day you’re in. The volume is the development.
- Sundays and Mondays off. The salon is closed both days, across the board.
- Training calendar. Specific courses across the year — colour, hair systems, extensions, smoothing — that you can access from year one.
- A clear path forward. Senior Stylist progression is based on skill demonstration, not time-served. Move at your pace.
