Our Salon

A different kind of salon.

Wisteria Avenue is an independent hair salon at 4 East St. Helen Street in Abingdon — a Grade II Listed building between The King's Head & Bell and the Abingdon Town Museum. We opened in 2018 with a simple ambition: to do hairdressing properly, in a place that feels like somewhere you actually want to be.

Every appointment starts with a proper consultation — actually listening before anyone picks up the scissors. We take the time to understand your hair, your routine, and what you're trying to achieve, then show you how to recreate the result at home.

The salon spans two floors. The ground floor is our main space for cuts, colour and curly hair. Upstairs is quieter — used for men's hair systems, hijab-friendly appointments, silent appointments for clients with autism, and anyone who'd prefer a calmer setting. Whoever you are, you're welcome here.

Tracey Senior Stylist

Tim is a Master Stylist with over 30 years of experience in cutting, colouring, styling and perming. He spent much of his career running a busy salon in London before relocating to Oxford.

He brings genuine enthusiasm to every appointment and a thorough, detailed approach to consultation. His specialisms include curly haircuts, perms and hair colours.

Anya grew up in Poland, where she began her hairdressing career before moving to England seven years ago. With over 12 years of experience — most recently at a salon in Bedfordshire — she's a self-proclaimed perfectionist for whom 'good' is never quite enough.

She loves colour work and will stop at nothing to deliver the right result. Her specialisms include bespoke hair colours, curly haircuts, ladies' haircuts, men's hair systems and hair extensions.

Tracey is a Senior Stylist with over 35 years of experience, having previously worked in a busy London salon. She brings deep knowledge of cutting and colour — covering ladies' haircuts, men's cutting, perms and creative colour work — along with a warm, friendly manner that makes every appointment feel relaxed and enjoyable.

She loves helping clients feel confident in their hair, whether refining a classic style or trying something completely new. Known for great conversation, plenty of laughter, and honest advice, Tracey quickly becomes someone clients look forward to seeing in the chair.

Shanika is our Graduate Stylist, beginning her career in hairdressing after qualifying in 2025. She has a particularly soft, intuitive hand for colour — a great choice for clients trying balayage for the first time — and is developing real skill in longer haircuts and finishing work.

What sets her apart is how she works with clients: she listens properly, picks up on what someone actually wants, and makes the chair feel like an easy place to be. Warmth and patience as much as craft.
